15-Day Adventure 4×4 Tour to Northern Greece

Off road adventure with many ecological and cultural points of interest and notable architecture, history and gastronomy. Fir trees, streaming rivers, canyons, historical monuments, monasteries, traditional bridges and stone houses all combine for a magical journey. For those craving for variety and impeccable beauty, we promise, you’ll be lost in the legends and mysteries that emanate from every corner of Northern Greece.

Our mission in RT is the exploration of nature, of wildlife, the appreciation of crystal clear waters, dense forests, to let mankind thrive into the wild, respecting the boundaries of the Greek fauna. We will explore alpine lakes, refreshing rivers, enjoy amazing views, eat unique food, meet exceptional people & make lifetime memories. All participants are requested to respect all the wild animals we may encounter, not destroy/cut/remove endangered plants. 

Day 1 | The start of a memorable journey
On the starting day, meeting time is between 10.30 – 11.30 AM & departure time 12:30 AM from RT premises. Heading out we will stop at a waterfall, cross cosmopolitan cities like Arahova and stop into the wild to camp.

Day 2 | Underground visit
This day is devoted to educating us about the underground treasure of Greece. We will visit a famous museum called Vagonetto before reaching the village of Pavliani, which was greatly inspired by the famous TV series Game of Thrones and the Casa de Papel!

Day 3 | In search of Dragons!
Are you ready to drive up into the wild mountains and search for dragons? Mt. Oiti is one of the mountains that have alpine lakes that deep into their waters keep the baby dragons safe! Did we mention the frozen caves, sinkholes and mysteriously vanishing water? Well…

Day 4 | Ridge off roading
Have you ever had the experience of driving at the top of a mountain for more than 2km? We will use low speed gear and we will crawl on the backbone of mountain Kokalia driving freely at 1700m enjoying the memorable view. That memorable day will end with drinks and laughs with local people at a local bar!

Day 5 | Leisure day
After our breakfast we will enjoy various activities by the city of Karpenisi. For our early dinner / late lunch we will go to a local fish farm where we will eat really fresh fish! What better way to end the day? A fresh swim at Karpenisiotis river.

Day 6 | Active or relaxed?
Buggy day or relaxing free day? Your choice! Looking to absorb the Greek sun into your skin? Maybe sleep all day under the shade? To go for a horseback ride? To hike? Maybe try your skills in archery? Maybe have the experience of driving a specially designed buggy into the wild forests, go swim under fresh water waterfalls and enjoy your meal at a distant village? We have you covered!

Day 7 | Exploring the unknown
The following days (including 8) are dedicated to an area called Agrafa. The meaning of Agrafa originated from the insanely wild characteristics of this region. During all wars, (WWI, WWII) these villages were never conquered because it was next to impossible for the troops to reach these regions. What better way to feel free when visiting these areas? For the night,we will stop next to the river of Agrafiotis to enjoy the fresh waters coming down from the mountains.

Day 8 | Exploring the unknown vol 2!
Agrafa crossing. We will reach Lake Plastira through tough terrain, high altitude driving and gorgeous views. We will cross abandoned tunnels before looking down towards the lake. The lands of Agrafa are waiting!

Day 10 | The old tavern
We start our journey rested and full of energy! We move towards Vragiana exploring Eastern Agrafa and heading towards Northern Agrafa. We will camp next to a traditional tavern. Please keep in mind that food is important in Greece! Greek people will try to buy you more and more food, to the limit of explosion!

Day 11 | The bridge – waterfall
Crossing Northern Agrafa enjoying the breathtaking view, we will start our descent towards Mt Koziakas, crossing Oxia village where we will camp next to a unique place, a rare waterfall – bridge combination!

Day 12 | The secrets of the Captain
On this day we are going to enjoy our day through asphalt roads, small villages, tunnels and relaxing driving to reach Captain’s Baths. We will dive to some beautiful waterfalls, soak ourselves and enjoy all the greenery surrounding us!

Day 13 | The Flying Fox!
Once again, rested and refreshed, we are going to start our journey early. We will have the Mt. of Tzoumerka accompanying us during our day. We will visit the amazing waterfalls that are 100m high. The brave members of our team can try to shower under the fresh waters! Refreshed we will move onto the next stop which is the beautiful bridge of Plaka. We will learn about that historic place and enjoy the river. Our camp for the night will be next to the well known cave of Anemotrypa.

Day 14 | Exploring the unknown vol 3!
After our delicious breakfast, we will enter the cave of Anemotrypa that is 1.2 million years old, with amazing colors! Later on we will move deeper into the wild with exploration instincts! We will stop at an unknown cave that brings fresh water from the guts of the mountain. Exploring it is a must! Moving on, we will stop at the bridge of Filos (which means friend). We will hike into the river, the thick shade of the trees and on our route we will find a small traditional inn that we will stop to refresh. Waterfalls and secret baths are a must in this area! Our dinner will be at the village of Kalarites at a very old tavern. Our night camp will be at a high altitude near the lake Verliga.

Day 15 | Return
Before returning th RT HQ, we will swim at the Verliga lake (2.100m), fully respecting the environment and the fauna of the area. It is said that dragons were born in this lake! Leaving the high altitude we will have to cross a large area of Greece where we will see lakes, rivers, wonders of modern technology and enjoy the scenery!
